Responsibilities
  • Conducting pre-risk inspection for Industrial risks for better risk assessment.
  • Assess/analyze, calculate PML to establish an outcome accurately fits within the delegated authority and in accordance with Property underwriting guidelines for new and existing accounts.
  • Review of the Proposals/Risk Inspection Reports and to prepare quotations with appropriate terms and conditions in co-ordination with the Department Manager.  
  • Review of the risks accepted and their limits for arrangement of Fac. Placements, where necessary.
  • Conduct Direct/Facultative technical analysis.   
  • Review policy content, terms & conditions, clauses and exclusions as well as loss ratio that affect reinsurance requirements or reconsidering the participation and revision in policy terms.
  • Ability to identify the gaps among insurance policy wordings.
  • Preparation of Policy documents.
  • Underwriting daily business proposals (direct &/or fac inward).
  • Liaising with claims manager / loss adjuster on specific claims which require special investigation etc.
  • Regular reconciliation of system entries 
  • Working aligned to achieve the structured targeted premium. 
  • Executed managerial reports within specified deadline. 
  • Dealing with a wide range of insurance lines of business, e.g. Fire, Engineering etc.  
  • Regular Market visits for Execution of marketing activities.
  • Negotiate with Reinsurers/Brokers to obtain best possible market terms. 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree together with additional insurance qualification from a recognized insurance institute.  
  • Proficient in MS office
  • 5-7 years’ Experience 
  • Bilingual (English & Arabic – Read, Write and Speak)
  • Preferred to have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
  • Own the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of production and non-production databases (IBM Informix, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL in the future)
  • Design, implement, and regularly test robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to meet defined RPO/RTO objectives
  • Lead database performance tuning efforts, including advanced query optimization, index strategy, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning
  • Architect and manage high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, failover configurations) to ensure minimal downtime for mission-critical systems
  • Lead schema design, optimization, and normalization efforts, and review database changes proposed by development teams
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex database incidents; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
  • Define, implement, and enforce data security, access control, encryption, and auditing policies in line with company and regulatory standards (e.g., data protection and insurance-sector compliance requirements)
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching with minimal business disruption, including future migration/adoption of PostgreSQL
  • Develop and maintain automation for routine DBA tasks (health checks, backups, monitoring, alerting) using scripting tools
  • Establish and maintain database monitoring, alerting, and capacity forecasting to proactively address risks
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, infrastructure, and security teams to support application, integration, and reporting needs
  • Mentor and coach junior DBAs; contribute to building team standards, runbooks, and documentation
  • Document database architectures, configurations, procedures, and changes to audit-ready standards
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on experience administering at least two of the following: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or IBM Informix — deep experience with IBM Informix is highly preferred
  • Must have expert-level SQL skills (writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures)
  • Proven experience designing and managing backup/recovery and disaster recovery solutions, including recovery testing
  • Strong hands-on experience with high availability technologies (e.g., SQL Server Always On/failover clustering, replication, Informix HDR/RSS, log shipping)
  • Advanced knowledge of performance tuning: indexing strategies, execution plans, locking/blocking analysis, memory and storage optimization
  • Solid understanding of database security: user/access management, role-based access control, encryption (at rest and in transit), and auditing
  • Experience with database migrations, version upgrades, and cross-platform data movement
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, and/or Python) and experience with monitoring tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred: 

  • Exposure to cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) and hybrid environments
  • Experience in the insurance, banking, or other regulated financial sectors
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, IBM Informix certification, PostgreSQL certification)
