Own the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of production and non-production databases (IBM Informix, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL in the future)
-
Design, implement, and regularly test robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to meet defined RPO/RTO objectives
-
Lead database performance tuning efforts, including advanced query optimization, index strategy, execution plan analysis, and capacity planning
-
Architect and manage high availability solutions (e.g., clustering, replication, mirroring, log shipping, failover configurations) to ensure minimal downtime for mission-critical systems
-
Lead schema design, optimization, and normalization efforts, and review database changes proposed by development teams
-
Serve as the escalation point for complex database incidents; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
-
Define, implement, and enforce data security, access control, encryption, and auditing policies in line with company and regulatory standards (e.g., data protection and insurance-sector compliance requirements)
-
Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching with minimal business disruption, including future migration/adoption of PostgreSQL
